Teaching has always been one of Bernie German’s loves. Now in
his fourth year as an independent music teacher in
the Oakville area, he relies on a varied background
of teaching expertise.
Throughout the 1980’s and 90’s, as a manufacturing manager,
Bernie was instrumental in the growth of the company
he worked for at the time; The Martin Gear Company;
headquartered in Dallas, Texas. Bernie traveled
extensively to most of the more than fifteen
manufacturing branches throughout the United States
teaching Health and Safety Issues, as well as
general manufacturing efficiencies.
Bernie became involved in manufacturing in Minneapolis;
working for the Martin Gear Co. He was stationed
three years in Minneapolis, Chicago for six years,
then Kansas City for four years, Philadelphia for a
year and finally, in 1991, moving to Toronto, ON.
The corporation again asked him to set up another
facility 1994, but his growing family and his love
of Canada, Ontario and Oakville made him decline the
offer.
|
He and his family became Canadian Citizens and Bernie, in
another corporate assignment, went to work for the
Stackpole Gear Co., here in Mississauga, ON. Over
the course of the eight years there, Bernie again
took on the role of corporate trainer and educator
in the various manufacturing techniques facing every
modern automotive supplier.
Bernie German grew up on a farm outside of Hankinson, North
Dakota in the Red River Valley, near Fargo. Bernie’s
home town always flew three flags on Main Street:
the U.S., the North Dakota flag, and the Canadian
Flag. No stranger to raising horses and cattle he
has fond memories of those early days on the farm.
His family also had a passion for all things musical. His dad
played harmonica, two of his sisters played trumpet
and clarinet in the school band, and his brothers
played guitar. Bernie’s older brother Jerry was his
first guitar teacher. |
